I just got it working.
Incase anyone cares... i hooked the PB into an old desktop through Firewire... installed OS9 on a separate partition and booted up in X. went to the classic prefs and set the classic location to that partition.
not exactly what i wanted. but they're separate.

yeah... i know DonV.
i did the last issue in InDesign. but they aren't going to switch over anytime soon... so i have to comply with their ways.

you can actually convert InDesign 2 -> Q6 -> Q5 -> Q4
:^)

email me next week & i'll give you 5/
and don, you cant talk cause yer a relative mac n00b!
:D
- Donvitoviti0
hmmm.
you can open up quark stuff in Indesign.
- Gorbie0
it ain't my call Don.
i haven't used 9 in 2 years. and i've been on ID for a year and a half.
- Gorbie0
i was just buying time while i looked........ no. i don't have 5.
i did.
this is such a bitch. my shit was set up perfect... then the HD died. would've cost almost $400 to fix if i didn't have the applecare
- Donvitoviti0
why in the world would you want to use OS 9'
because of quark?????
POS quark???Start doing you stuff in indesign
- BonSeff0
ok, but do you have quark5? because q6 only saves to 5 and you need 5 to save to 4.
quark is a lovely company
- Gorbie0
i got 6 for sure.
i haven't dug up 4 since i got in the bidniss

"gfySelf"
ok that's dope!- - - -
dows that work? it crossed my mind when i asked the question a while ago. i just figured it would prolly fuck something up.
- - -yeah it works. i do it with a lot of the low rent printers.

- Gorbie0

hmm..... that's really the only reason i'm doing this whole os9 crap.
- bSelf0
bloddy hell.
the reason i asked is cause you can do your designs in q6.
do a collect for output and save down to q5. open q5 and save down to q4/its such a pain in the ass for those old schooler clients.
but q6 will collect the fonts.
if you need q5 let me know
and dont EVER call me self again!
this acct will distruct like an inspector gadget missoin letter..
*back to seff
- Gorbie0
thanks for trying. i don't do anything the easy way.
or the right way, i guess.
- bSelf0
fuck it.. nevermind my question
g'luck i guess..
check you late
- Gorbie0
right on... be your self.
i'm doing some contract work for a magazine that's stuck in the dark ages.
- bSelf0
i guess i need to change my name to self...
do you have quark 6?
- Gorbie0
i swear... i used to go out. have fun. drink. dance. smoke. wtf.
- Gorbie0
that's what i have puter. i'll try the option key now.
Self... I'm really paranoid about running 9 & 10 side by side. i never use 9 - but i have a couple jobs where i have to use Quark 4 and i don't want that stuff in the way of my regular system. so, starting from scratch... i figured i'd separate the two - as this used to be not only possible, but easy.

If you have OS 9 drivers installed when OS X was installed- even if you removed OS 9 the OS still thinks its there...
The best way to have OS 9 on a OS X machine is to have a dedicate partition set up for it ahead of time.
When you are booting, you can then hold down the option key and choose your OS.
