after leaving the office early on friday, i don't really have any clear ideas.
so... what were the conclusions?
one hosting server or loads of connections to everyone's?
will it be named anything with "nt_"?
how? when? why?
an so on.

I had some more ideas about this on the weekend, mostly in terms of extra functionality and interface, but also don't know where this stands...I've even roughed up a very basic design that isn't finished but maybe by end of day I could post a .jpeg...
I still think it's a great idea/project tat could work even if it is just strictly for nt'ers.
The only name I thought of though was .FMTuner :(

yeah... maybe some thinking should be done about the name, also.
i was wondering, what about the legal effects? does the password thing takes the risponsablity away?
it wouldn't be more illegal than the actual FMT it's done here, though...

well it is a lot different. See the plan is to build a site specifically for that reason whereas here when the trades go on the responsibility is with newstoday but newstoday cant really be blamed. we can be blamed for creating a site specific for this reason.

true, that was my main concern. but remember that on friday the password idea was very much appresiated... so, having a password wouldn't imply that is for "private" use (i.e. authorized individuals) and that would be (more or less) the same than playing a song on your livingroom?

I have been doing this for over a year, http://www.ltd-design.com/friday… which is pretty much the same thing. I now have roughly 725 unique users every friday and haven't had a legal problems yet.

exactly, I think it will be fine. I just don't think we should run around telling everyone about it...

yea, there are thousands of mp3 blogs doing it on a daily basis. I think the trick is to only post songs that are somewhat under the radar, don't go posting any billboard top 10s or anything. If you do get noticed, you may get a cease and desist. Here's a roundtable discussion with several of these mp3 bloggers:

Good link gerbert.
Regardless of any lost momentum, I'm going to finish flushing out the idea I had then I will pose it to whomever still cares about doing this...and then everyone can rip it apart and tell me it's not feasible or worth the effort..

still a work in progress... get a login from bonseff or unfit (or me but im going to sleep).
it's single flash based music player which streams the music from everyone else's servers.
Unfit and I came up with a few ideas for adding to it, and I'm sure you guys will have plenty.
For starters right now you have to reload the player to see if any songs are added. Soon they'll be added to the list 'live'.
Also, for now only admins have control over genres... That'll be changed soon as well
I'm gonna go crash for a few hours. Have fun!

and it's absolutely illegal to share music like this - no question about it. hence, the password.

i have a question for the designers who will make the player...at my company the tech dept have blocked all streaming rom the net as it would slow our server response time...so i guess my question is will i still be able to here all the friday music or will i be blocked while i am at work? pls consider this and pls dont only constrict it to be streaming.
thanks!
oh and pls answer if you can.

we'll use a genre list similar to winamp's.

so tell me how this will differ from the pre-exisiting players and also how we are going to market this without it gaining too much popularity, etc. Again, we cannot just play tunes and give the artists nothing. It's illegal.

Im not interested in making micro-payments to big daddy kane because I played him in the jams.
