they crash, alot. what do the folks at apple say? "well its a piece of computer hardware, of course its going to crash" wow. mine twice a week, no recovery, resetting does not work, just let it drain then recharge.
this coming from a PC user that hasn't touched an apple product since 1996, and what do i remember about those days? Macs crash.
will i migrate to the Mac mini? no. their brilliant marketing is boosting them to a whole new place with record sales off crap harware.end rant. sorry.

I've had my iPod for over a year and it's never crashed!
- taragee0
why do u let it drive?
- gruntt0
quit swimming with it.
- mogwai0
hey marky, do you run with it, or do anything active with it? that's when mine crashes.

The mini iPod I bought crashed 5 times a day, even when properly interfaced with iTunes. I took it back and got another and discovered out of the box the drive was bad.

Same here.
You must have gotten a lemon.
I also just started using the Mac os and the main thing I notice is that is is much more stable than Windohs.

my old iPod crashed once in the two and a half years that I had it. My new one hasn't at all yet (touches wood).
In the past year, I've had NO fatal crashes in MacOs X, and one total system freeze.
Niente problemo...

well i guess i got a lemon and i'll exchange it in that case. the folks at apple seemed to think it was normal though!
i seem to have bad luck with all machines, cars, small electronics, computers. i think its just me.

depends on what OS of Windows you are talking about. Windows 2000 Professional, although ugly, is extremely stable at this point. Granted that was after 4 years of fixing bugs.

A) rants should never end is 'sorry'
B) faulty equipment always migrates to the most cynical
C) equipment was born to be faulty
D) trying to irritate mac users or just ranting? doesn't matter either way.

now that's an odd thing to post.
:)

thanks glenroy. that was very helpful.

maybe you have some sort of electro magnetic field around you that screws up all electronics.
possible!
- mogwai0
i'm fairly certain this is the case anzelina.

there are a small percentage of people who can't wear watches.
it's bizarre, and kind of awesome.

Mt 2nd gen ipod has only crashed twice!
Once was after my girlfriend begged to use it jogging, promising not to drop it or harm it in anyway.
You should have seen the look on her face when she walked in the door and said it quit working.
After about 5 minutes searching on the web I found how to reset it and have only had it do it once more in three years.

When i got my 3G iPod it crashed when docked almost every time after about 30 minutes of playing. When i plugged the dock into the other firewire port on my machine, it stopped crashing..

hopefully the flash memory will be more stable than the HD's.

i'm fairly certain after talking to other users that the crashes are quite common. especially when jostled a bit (jogging). its just strange how nobody talks about the problems with ipods. just people saying how great they are.

my iPod doesn't crash and i've got a lot of crap on there; music, movies, documents, contact lists...
I use 4 macs on a near-daily basis, (mine, my girlfriend's, and 2 at work) and only one of them has locked up in the last 6 months.
I encourage everybody to at least give the Mac mini a testdrive. Come on, it's only 500 bucks and it sure beats the hell out of a Dell which will crash at least twice a week.
