hey, i've almost completed our interim website (the company i work for, not mine) and i have to have it running this afternoon.
over the next few weeks we'll be looking at tweaking it so any ideas or thoughts apprciated.
(the flash element will end up floating on another background that matches the rims on the left and right).interim working version here:

See my broadcast "Nice functionality" regarding your site. Also, i'm retarded.

thanks.
yeah, the trasitions are slo on some older machines yet i've done alot of them with AS rather that tweened so they should be good. one more thing to add to the 'tweak next week' list.

yeah, like the urban solidity of it :).
I was a little confused by the nav..I THINK it colors those items that are relevent to the menu item you select, yeah ?
I do get anxiety about SEO for all-flash site like this, and have kinda been scared into doing hybrids where the content is laid out in search-bot friendly ways..
That being said, if you're not looking for SE placings then that fair enough, and another discussion entirely to be honest..I did notice some jagged movement on, eg the preloader bar as it dropped into place, and the transition to 'Toolbox'.
When you've got a few bitmaps on the stage, and some significant alpha'd overlays going on, many machines arent to happy when its done by an actual motion tween.
Have a look at

(its not mine and Im sorry to the orig. author, but I cant track down the original)..
With this you can v simply script tweens in a variety of very pleasing ways, and you'd be amazed at how much smoother it is.., eg
http://www.djpauledge.com/wappi_…Overall I think its a smooth and clean design that would be great if you can sort out the tweening thing :)..
Mail me if you want any help with the AS :)..
Thanks.,

Hey. I think it looks great. The scrolling on the awards page was a little funky, but maybe thats because yo have so many freaking awards!
I think you might want to have some additional aid to the nav of the site than just the change from mono to colour of the image too,
great stuff :)

thanks for the reponse people, muchly appreciated!
i'll get onto the AS movement next week (im away for a few days which is why the boss wants the site live asap). that will clear up the movement issues.
i'll get onto some ideas to help with the nav also. thanks for pointing that out. as usual, if you're too close to something you can get a bit blinded.
thanks all.

speaking from strictly a design perspective, since I know nothing about coding and web.
Pretty nice, although, you might want to reconsider your target demographic, who will be checking the site out, the overall masculinity and blue collar feel to it might turn off some possible customers.
Tranisitions were slow on my computer which is a little annoying.
Site reminds of something that would be really tricked out for say a frieght elevator company or parking garage company...but that's just my opinion...
they body type is a little horsey and big - might want to bring it down in size a bit so it doesn't fight with the heads and imagery...

like it overall. really slow though. i am actually still not sure if the nav above does anything besides highlight the items below.
the layout is smooth and has a nice tone to it.
what is up with the logo though? that needs a serious redesign. it looks like a combo of a subway sign and a construction sign....that sounded much more jerky then i was really trying to be : /

just curious, airey: what's your framerate on the Flash file?

What made you decide to deactivate the nav once you have clicked on something? For me, having that link to close the window means nothing - it is an unnecessary and obstructive element. Apart from that it's ok.
