i would get it, i've always wanted a mac but couldn't afford it. now i can get one in my price range without having to sort to refurbished ones or used ones on ebay.

w00t! I come home to find this new machine, a machine that can quell my curious desires for the forbidden mac! I am def. going to get one, and I've been hardcore PC my whole life.

Sure you can get a decent pc for £500! But that small? Show me!
I've seen mini-stereo-sized pc's, but far from the size of that thing!

it looks nice to me, and I haven't used a mac since grade school. How many people buy laptops and then do all their work from a desk, would definitly save some money. There may be similarly sized pc alternatives, but they're more of a novelty, full size hardware packed into a shoebox, not something you'd throw in your backseat a few times a week.

There is one problem a like-priced pc has...
Windows.
This is not a computer for you tech nerds. It's for people like my mom who doesn't want to have to know how to restore deleted dll's or whatever the crap seems to go wrong with her computer all the time.
They will sell a gazillion of them

I run a dual 450 G4 as my main machine that is at least 5 times faster than my 2.4mhz Dell that collects dust and viruses all day.
PC people just dont get it-
You buy this machine- at this price- even though there are PC versions out there but the difference is-
plug it in-
get on internet in 5 minutes
make movies in 15 minutes
make DVD's
record your band
make a photo book
send email
make a presentation
write a letter
listen to music-right out of the box.
Try to do that with you mini PC and windows then you will see what the value is.

puter... they dont get it.
im a pc-mac convert. pc's r great for doorstops, spyware and for learnin how to rrrrreinstall xp... once you do smac you dont go back..."i have seen pc's that size using p4's for same price, not out dated Macs. That like a guy who has ps2 buying the new thin ps2 when its pointless."
making your computerlife a happier place because you've changed to or upgraded a mac is a good thing, and personal choice. just like its your choice to hate on things that are [in 80% of creatives eyes] more enjoyable than whatever pc you are currently working on.
i dont think that mevsthem could really want to blow bill gates that much that he has to instantly start a pc thread to hate on anything mac. has he ever looked at a G5? inside and out? its like a porche.
if your driving a hyundai and hating on porche drivers... where does that deep set anger come from dude? are you really gonna argue that hyundai makes a better car than audi, porche or VW? [all the same company btw]
just because the speedometer has the same numbers, doesnt mean the experience is the same.

i'm on a 733 quicksilver right now. it's fine for what i do. i'm not doing high-end video editing or 3d stuff. granted i've got a gig and a half of memory in here and large pshop files can be troubling, but the price for this new mac is unbeatable. plus it's 2x as fast as my current machine.
i could justify buying one of these, a new monitor and a powerbook very easily and not have to lose too much sleep. i only wish i could get 2 gigs of ram in the mac mini.
- JG_LB0
yeah...what Carty said..
- d-error0
now it's no longer a matter of PC vs. Mac, but Windows vs. OS-X.
well said!, what good is a p4 3.4ghz when the OS one big bug, full of porn popups and whatnot
- 5timuli0
Damn right! Now I'm the last person who'd want to fuel a childish geeky argument like this one but if you've ever spent 5 mins using windows and 5 mins on OS X, only a frickin' retard would choose Windows!
- warheros0
i concur!

I dont understand all these "I can build it cheaper" arguements...
Maybe you could build it cheaper. You could probably build a outhouse cheaper than buying a toliet- but that is not the point.
I have to work on a computer for 10 hours a day- EVERYDAY... so I want a tool that let's me work- I dont want to build my tool- I want to buy it- open it up and get to work. And even you $350.00 PC you built will require a 300.00 OS to run it- mine comes with that- plus a shitload of workable apps and a stable OS. I open it- and work... you can spend time tweaking and building while I am making money WORKING and enjoying.
I didn't build my TV, my car, my DVD player, my air conditioner- why the hell would I want to build my computer??
I got more creative things to do with my time.

Hahahahaha nice one puter!

---------So would it be pointless to buy new clothes or shoes when you already have shirts, pants and shoes that function just fine? Or ordering a pizza when your cupboards and frige are full of food? Maybe it would be like that, but sometimes, if the means are right, you want something new or better, even if slightly...
- mg330
I didn't need a $300 OS for a PC, I bought Win2K in 2001 for $5 through the university I went to, who had a licensing agreement with MS to sell that stuff cheap cheap cheap!
