- swollenelbow0

- johndiggity0
i don't know, prolly a discount when shopping? i'll find out more monday. i just want an idea going in.
- JazX0
at least 75K
- level20
What about a senior interactive designer in NYC?
- tkmeister0
what's the job description? how many yrs of experience required?
50k isn't much in the city. upscale departments...so i can guess which one. but you should shoot for 65k at least.
- tkmeister0
senior interactive designer... i'd day 60-65k. there's just way too many. also depends on what kind of office. ad agencies probably pay the most. or some high up position at inhouse design team.
- level20
yeah, it's a large ad firm in NYC - your response was right on the money (pun intended)

what will allow me to live comfortably? i will probably live with a bunch of friends, sell my car, dot dot dot. is that range going to make my life suck?
- level20
Just dont go out drinking at bars where they charge $7 a beer..
- johndiggity0
easier said than done. i guess the non-smoking thing would help as well.
- tara|gee0
you all are talking 50k for a jr? entry level?
- tkmeister0
if you can make 55k, you can do ok. but if you can pull 80k, that's comfy and get to enjoy finer things in life.
i think most good designer max out around 150k(being the head of creative) if working for a company. maybe more if you get lucky...
- johndiggity0
i don't really need the finer things right now, i'm only 24. tara you think 45-50 is too much? anyone else struggling in the city on 50k?
- tara|gee0
id say 50 is def on the high side - i guess ask for 50 but im thinkin your offer is gonna be more liek 40-45... youll be fine - just live in brooklyn like everyone else lol

this thread makes me hate my life
my salary sucks. i just work way too many hours to find time to move out of here..i am in a totally different industry than probably everyone here...overall i do product development for the electronic accessory industry...ive been in my industry for 5 years now, been at this current job for 3yrs. i started out as entry level and moved way up in what i do but my salary stay at the same moving very slowly up. oh and yes i am in nyc and the struggle is intense...i have cut out smoking from my life and save now $4k a year just for that, but its hard as hell..oi so sleepy from all this...need to relax...make more money live comfortably...
for work here in nyc aim and ask high! 50k soon after taxes isnt that much to live on. especially if you are trying to save.
- tkmeister0
e-pill,
i am with you and i've been there. i think i drunk off the first 5yrs of my life in nyc to ease pain and stress. sometimes, i wonder why i am here. i am probably in a pretty good situation right now, but still i get tired of all the bs in the city.it's hard to make living but even harder to stay sane and happy in this city.
i think the key is to find the balance. work and play.

i play as much resident evil as i can...for me i started at a low salaary range even though my experience was high...i just wanted to learn more even at a low rate at the time, just never thought i would get stuck like everyone else...im not someone to bounce around either. i get a raise each year but at a percentage to what i make now, not to what i bring to the table...what angers me is that the company hires out of school fresh out of the box virgins and pay them higher because we are a much larger company than when i started so they get more, but when i ask for more i am shafted with lies and corruption of bullshit.
buit soon i will rock again!
and tonight i will [play heavily resident evil 4!!!
