Im In perth,
Im a full timer so Im not sure about the freelance scene anymore. There is work around if you can do more than just brochureware. If you got skillz you could get a job at http://www.webfirm.com.au but its a bit of a sweatshop i hear.
other wise the weather is fantastic at the mo and the beaches sensational.
its a great place to be if you can make a crust.

alot of port-80 web geeks meet up on the first wednesday of each month at the queens tavern on beaufort st in mount lawley.
still the port-0 forums are quite quiet.

I'd be happy to organise boozetoday drinks for perth, i dind't think there was any NT's around here. The queens is cool, or there are heaps of other pubs near there.
I went to the Brisbane recently which has had a huge facelift, seriously (s)wanky. Not too long ago they had topless waitresses (a friend tells me :P)

yeah the brisbane used to be the worst pub in Australia. The skimpys were old, it was just plain wrong.
Its nice now though. I vote brisbane for boozetoday Perth.

I always see it during those three day test series for cricket. Always played in Perth for some reason with the Aussie team. Is there a reason for that?

Oh yeah, I just saw a few news articles. Seems to be under control now, thankfully. Damn firebugs!
Last week it was Adelaide on fire. I'm guessing this is a recurring problem then in Oz.
Once or twice we had serious fires on Table Mountain (in Cape Town). It was so horrible to watch your beloved city burn for days on end. Made you want to crucify those responsible for the damage.

yeah, poor perth. poor wallabies, wombats & koala's.
but on the bright side, they'll awesome sunsets for a few weeks, and fire can be good for a lot of plants whose seeds only germinate after a fire.
i'll be there in three weeks. i can't wait!
