phew, a positive comment :)
thanks vespa.i definitely picked up on that DIY thing when I was there last year. lots of people seem to have their own micro-ventures going one, even if they've got a day job.

My reservations about the place still stand though

Hey, I grew up in Perth. Can't help you out much with any info though. I left about 5 years ago and haven't looked back. But good luck, I hope things go well for you.

im a web designer, lived in perth all my life. what can i say.. i dont know any better. nows probably a good time to come over looking for work as there have been a few positions advertised recently.
perth makes claim to be the most isolated capital city in the world, if your interested in a laid back lifestyle your coming to the right place.

just got back to perth 3 weeks ago from 6 months working as a graphic designer in london. As far as work is concerned, its a lot harder to find freelance here. There is however quite a few firms where you will find work easy if you have a nice folio and skills. The lifestyle however is much better. i guess im biased as all my friends are here, however altogether its great to be back here......london weather and the 6 hours of sunlight shits me!!

jesus, if i had known there was this much activity on Newstoday in Perth I woiuld have organised a drunktoday evening when that whole thing was going round.
My opinion. Perth is a fantastic place to live, laid back and chilled out. However, for a design career, it really suffers from a bit of small town syndrome.
Vespa: Is Nat Brunov's working for papercut media still? or has she started her own company? I haven't heard what that crew has been up to in ages.

GO PERTHIES!

myspoon, agentfour, beech & mobius...
thanks, its really good to hear from more designers living and working in perth.
there is nothing wrong with "laid back" in my book, & i'm all about this elusive factor called 'quality of life'. i say - bring it on! (in a suitably relaxed way, of course :)
Cheers for the links!

hey beech, mmm i think she's started her own company - only heard through the grapevine, but we all know the perth grapevine travels faster than the speed of light
and speaking of drinks, it's your duty as a fine upstanding citizen of nt to organise a Perth Boozetoday™ on the same night as the next london drinks ya big wuss
