What screen dimensions do you all work within when laying out a web page? Is 740px max width the standing rule?
- gerbert0
I'm using 744 and am SICK of it.

I usually start by rounding to 750 and adjust as necessary.

thanks fate.
I can't wait till everyone is on 20" widescreens. still, 740 is a comfy fit.

i dont know, i would think most people that see any sites i make would have a resolution of at least 1040, so i fit it in there. usually within 800 px.

Actually it's a lot more than that according to my own stats over 25 sites.
- Gordy220
Agreed; I'm basing that on one sites reports.
What's your stats show Moth.
- JamesEngage0
800 * 600 just looks ridiulous when you set your machine to it
- Gordy220

--About 33%.
Certainly enough for me to code within the 800x600 frame.
I'll stop when it drops below 10%.

It depends on the site you visit for stats... Thing is - it's developers visiting the sites that produce the stats! So you get tainted results ya know...
The sites my company host are boring as shit corporate stuff...
- warheros0
how do you tell what resolution your viewers have?
im guessing those 800x600's use that res. because that's what it was set at when they first turned their computer on.
who would seriously set it to that and leave it? maybe those stats are from people testing...though that's been said.
- Gordy220
I guess that that 33% are nr blind people and those who don't actualyl know how to change their resolution. We should start a nation, nae world wide campaign to inform people to change their settings; bitr of PR, get it on the news. Would help to drive it below to 10 % barriers... Not sure how tho'...
- warheros0
i know how...start making sites for 1024 and up, disregard the existance of 800x600's.
- ********0
We could put guns to their heads.
- ********0
1024 gives you a scary amount of room to fill. I'd be lost.

Does any one bother with, ahem, websafe colours any more?
