Design Exchange seeks a
Web Designer/Audience Development CoordinatorHours: 4 days/week – 30 hrs
Duration: 17 weeks, February 7, 2005 – June 2, 2005
In accordance with the objectives defined by the Design Exchange and within the approved budgets, the Web Designer/Audience Development Coordinator will design, develop, implement, and evaluate on-line audiences for projects and programs.
Specifically, the Web Designer/Audience Coordinator will be responsible for:
digifest 2005 Goes Wild website
(Completion Phase 1: February 28, 2005; Phase 2: April 1, 2005; Phase 3: May 30, 2005)In this festival, we explore the theme, Wild. digifest is an annual festival of digital culture and design. The website will focus on content presented during digifest in May 2005, with audience distribution across Canada and internationally. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to meet and work with dozens of new media professionals and designers working in a wide range of industries and sectors. The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Attend meetings with partners, assisting with decisions of what content and design will be used in the website
• Document the work and display requirements, keeping track of deliveries, e-files for each project/partner and phase
• Coordinate text for website and design/programming
• Coordinate launch of press releases, e-vite, banners
• Coordinate an on-line information distribution plan
• Maintain database/list of international contacts
• Update website and/or coordinate website updates
• Assist with New Voices Program and digifest exhibition
• Catalogue and archive festival content
• Work with staff to promote DX events on-line, including exhibitions, speaker’s series and workshops.The successful candidate will posses the following:
• On-line marketing experience and/or marketing degree
• In-depth knowledge of design, digital media design and culture, communities and trends
• Strong design and programming skills (html, macromedia flash)
• Proven skills as an independent researcher
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills (spoken, written, digital)
• Enthusiasm, energy and a willingness to learn
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada
• 30 years of age or younger at the start of employment
• Must be registered with Workopolis (no fees involved)Report to: Director of Research/ Director of digifest

it's paid intership. It's a good opportunity. I did some work for them last year and they are pretty cool.
Definitely meet lots of people. Good opp for newbies. Really.

Read the header Re: 30hr/wk contract job! I know that there are some contract jobs that gives benefits, but most don't.
Whether it's with or without, it's still an opportunity. All you unemployed bums complaining about the lack of work should go eat your own shit!
