omg. a year + a week. that's so typical. it either happens in the first week (so you just got happy with it and you already have to send it back which is quite annoying) or just after a year so you don't have a guarantee anymore. it seriously is a conspiracy.
anyways, well there are apple techs, not official ofcourse, i only know this one guy here in berlin which prolly is not gonna help you. but he refurbishes, fixes etc. the oldschool way. you know like using busted equipment for the good parts. so he has always stuff around. screens, keyboards, etc.

Argh, well.. that puts me shit. All I know in german is Der bügel erst unmittelbar vor dem ausstieg öffnen, which means something about you having to have the security cage around you going up the ski lift, and some various dirty words.
He won't understand *any* english?

I live between Stockholm and Monaco. There are a couppla nerds up here in Sweden but their prices are fucked up. One guy I just spoke to said he'll do it for 850 EUR. Over my dead fucking body!!

:) as long as they warn visitors i'll guess it'll be ok. i mean, you won't expect it.
however i saw a couple of docs about that here and i'd say wait a year. it looks really crappy now. you know DDR style kind of crappy. plants still have to grow (although some say the plants are already dying there). and it looks way too concrete now.
however you can stay there 247. rent a tent and sleep on those fake beaches.
not my cup of tea though.
