The only design book I have is 'Graphic Design for the 21st Century' (http://youworkforthem.com/produ...
and I just ordered 'Dos Logos' (http://youworkforthem.com/produ...
This is just small time, I'm only 14 so I'm getting a couple of books that look good, my knowledge of Design Books is pretty limited.

Los & Dos Logo, are you serious!
They are only good if you are designing a logo for a record label, or some fashionable magazine
but inspirartional, perhaps to stronger word.If you wanna get under the skin of great design thinking, then look no further than this...

The most useful design books are the ones with hardly any/ no pictures. Don't buy the glossy coffeetable books if you want to learn about design.
For history 'A concise hisory of graphic design' by Richard Hollis is good.
For design know-how try 'grid systems' by joseph muller-brockman.
and 'Elements of typographic style' by Robert Bringhurst.
Or how about 'The new typography' by Jan Tschichold
Yes it's tempting to buy the pretty books, but you won't get much out of them.

'Marks of Excellence'

'Issues: New Magazine Design'

i'm really enjoying Paul Rand: Modernist Designer... and after im done with this i'll probably pick up the books Rand wrote himself.
Grid Systems is definitely a must-read. pick up anything by Brockmann, A Visual History.. the Poster book... all great stuff.
i like the GAS books too.
