Since we're laughin' it up about styles we're bored of in 2004/forever, what do you think will be predominant in 2005?
Can we see any emerging styles in "design" next year, or will there be a continuation of the 45degree?

friends of mine have just redesigned their web site for next year!

lmao @ forty media predicting the "wicked worn" look. Lame as hell for a prediction since that trend already peaked and is declining fast.

Anyone else thinkin the FortyMedia article is a load of shit?
"Designers are gonna use bold colors, like the color we predict to be color of the year...BROWN!"

"Flash widgets come into common use; full-site Flash still regarded as “sucks.”"
Gee, no bias at all.

I suppose though they can say whatever they want, it was a fairly broad stroke kind of "article" (which you want to be to ensure you're right ;) ).
Still, this kind of thread and this kind of "article" will probably fade quickly once people have passed the new year... once we start working again.

well FortyMedia obviously belongs to a different mindset than some other designers do. Web Design seems to have little cliques: the xhtml+css proselytizers, the flash kids who love whizzbang, those that are trying to apply solid principle to web design, the Advertising idea people, etc.
You'd have to have something a lot more objective than FortyMedia spewed out in order to even be half-way right.

Looks like it was written to give potential clients the false impression they are trendsetters.
They aint.

Yeah I don't really feel that article. The worn look is already done, the "retro" look was out years ago, the "vintage" look was in this year and hopefully goes away soon, I was down for it but I am so sick of everything looking late 70s/early 80s. I think more studios will be pushing more radical site layouts, much like BigSpaceship, and I have a feeling that QuickTime enabled websites will slowly start becoming a viable alternative to a browserbased website. I don't really buy that Brown will be the color of the year, and I also think the minimalist look is here to stay, you really can't go wrong with it if it fits your target audience.
So yeah, crock of shit, that article.

Color of the year: Brown
Tech grays and blues take a sabbatical; may not be back soon.
Pure red (the “new blue” of the past few years) falls into disfavor.
Thats 3 NT colors, no?
anyways, i posted the link because it was so damn funny to read.. did know people would actually take it serius

That's not true, women love those Gucci bags and they are all brown. Shit brown.

Before reading their brown bit, I was just thinking, "2005 is the year that grainy textures are out, and smooth organic poop textures are in."
Brown, you rule!
