Deadline?
And you're hangin around in the PS battle thread.
imho windows is truetype or open type.
when you make something on your mac, let's say a quark (*vomits) document, and send it to someone on pc and he opens it with the same font of the same publisher, kerning problems can occur.
at least, this happened once with some Emigre fonts.
i think if you want a quick solution TTConverter is the best solution...

If you're using Adobe's Type 1's, you should be fine. Other foundries may have cross platform issues, but they usually have the same issues with their TTFs. If you just need to show it someone who's on a WinPC, you can always embed it in a PDF and that to them.
If this is a font you're creating for something, use TTF, fewer files to send, if nothing else.
You can download ATM Lite for free from Adobe's website for Type 1 support, if necessary.
g'luck

another thing - is TrueType is OK for *real* print? i never had the guts to ask our printer...

Use them all the time, never had a problem.
I send my printers PDFs tho, with fonts embedded. That usually bypassses any issues. If your printer accepts PDFs, that is.
