imho windows is truetype or open type.
when you make something on your mac, let's say a quark (*vomits) document, and send it to someone on pc and he opens it with the same font of the same publisher, kerning problems can occur.
at least, this happened once with some Emigre fonts.
i think if you want a quick solution TTConverter is the best solution...
