I start moving into my first house this weekend. As a designer did anyone else feel a lot of pressure when it comes to decorating and painting?
Any suggestions? Any pics of examples.
It is a 1920's Bungalow if that helps.

I about had a heart attack and an anxiety attack at the same time when choosing the colors for our 1940s house.
what do you plan on doing decoration-wise? modern interpretation of the 20s style, true to period, etc?
- wetterink0
modern interpretation of the 20s style.
of course i want echoes of my style through out it though...but for the most part I would like to play with the time period it was built..

How about some pictures?
I have a 1923 Bungalow and I painted the exterior and interior this year. What city are you in?

congrats, I would consult an interior designer to be honest, it's much more specific

link isn't working for me...
but congratulations! I just bought an old tudor/bungalow style house built in 1926.
the poor thing needs so much plaster work, i can't even think about paint yet.
there are many great books about bungalow and arts and crafts style homes. search around... you'll find plenty of resources on what they used to look like and how to get them back that way again.

yeah..link was bogus for me too...if you copy and paste it...it works for me.
does anybody of pics of something they did in their house that might get some ideas flowing?
- Gorbie0
sorry...
link still doesn't work for me.

i just went through the same thing. maybe i'll take some photos tonight for inspiration. i did some interesting stuff the the walls in terms of paint and texture. most are stucco and some have a worn look to the paint.
i pretty much built each room around the main piece of furniture. i.e. in the linving room it was decorated around the couches and fireplace.
g/l. it's fun once you start going.

If you're looking to paint the exterior, drive around the neighborhoods in your area and find houses that use colors you like. The easiest way too see if a color looks good is to see it in use somewhere else.
As for interior, don't feel pressure to stay in any kind of period style if that isn't your taste. It's your house.
Is your neighborhood all bungalows? Are they painted consistently? Will your new neighbors scoff at you if you choose untraditional colors?
