I'm sorry to have mislead you all. I'm actually a designer brand adorned yuppie who gets a hard on whenever I see anything with Helvetica in it.

I really like it. Cool.
Oh the whole 'corporate cunts' angle, I think it's very difficult for anyone in the western world to argue against corporate policies, because we rely on cheap labour for almost consumer goods. And even if you make sure you buy 'ethical' products, it probably gets to you by ship & road, so loads of oil would have been used, which some poor sod has suffered for.
Only if you built your own house out wood from trees you had grown, used no electricity, and basically made and grew anything you use can you slag off corporate policy without being a hypocrite

an AD for NIKE that is not REAL
ok

it is lovely. at the same time it's kinda sad that it had to have the swish to make it a "valid" piece of design work.
i'm in two minds about punk vs the quorporation, on the one hand it pisses me off how so many dezine yute these days roll over without so much as a whimper, yet as has been mentioned, just by living in london and working in television i contribute my own special load to the corporate cuntscape.
go shotoshi, luv yer mobile bits
- shotoshi0
trying to be as ethical as I can, where I can and obviously it is a huge struggle to be 100% ethical. Trying to do that will be nigh on impossible and will do yer fakking heed in!
but, where I can make a conscious decision I will.
perhaps companies such as American Apparel (who are prolly not perfect either) will raise the standard. Sure, it's easy to be cynical and say their ethical approach is just marketing (I've heard that spiel). But full marks to them for paying fair wages and providing a good environment for their workers.
Fuck Nike! And all those other corporate cock suckers.
p.s. Son (see 'when Threadless' thread) will be a lot happier with AA's choice of models - nice racial representation they've got there. Again, full marks.
- shotoshi0
cheers Vespa, you're a good lad/lass.
actually, the mobile shit aint going so well 'cos the cunts who are 'powering' it are a shambles!
- Baskerville0
I really like American Apparel. I've been there a couple of times on Carnaby Street after reading about it here first.
What's strange is without nike's sponsorship of NT I wouldn't have known about American Apparel and may have walked straight past the shop
- ********0
tell me one good argument against capatilism?
- shotoshi0
NT wouldn't need Nike's sponsorship if they charged membership/took donations to use their site.
You would've discovered AA sooner or later, they're on the up and up. Most of the t-shirt designers on this site use AA.
We will be after our first wave has gone (almost sold out now)
- shotoshi0
no argument with capitalism per se, the argument is about corporate culture and all the bollocks that go with it (Enron being a fucking great example of everything that is wrong with corporations)
And, there's nothing wrong with being a corporation if you do the right thing.
- ********0
what is the right thing?
