yeah. the ibook is very well built. he shouldn't have any problems.
i recently went to watch a bodybuilding show and was taking photos while the camera was plugged in to the puter, uploading them real time. the ibook got bumped around a bit in the chair but performed flawlessly importing large format photos.
your friend will love it.

i should have gotten bluetoof installed from the factory too :( i wish apple made a pretty bluetooth adapter so i wouldn't have that ug-mo lynxys adapter hangin out the side.

i have an iboook and the screen sucks.. there is variance in color depending on where you tilt your head. i hear the powerbooks have a larger sweet spot.

i had the 14" ibook and didnt get bluetooth - its pretty easy to install yourself. just flip up the keyboard and slap that shit in.... i guess its different with the 12" model

nick, are you saying the 14" model is easier to install bluetooth? i have the 14" and the nurd at the mac store said there was no way you can install bluetooth? i know airport cards install how you are saying, but i dont think bluetooth is the same..

No friggin way. I've had my iBook down to molecules and there's no way you can install BT yourself. It's not under the keyboard, but placed (if you got it) under the logic board, which makes it impossible to reach since it's covered in some plastic wrapped around the entire logic board and THEN the logic board itself is attached with screws that cannot be unscrewed. (like, half a torx or something)
Good luck tearing that apart. And you probably don't wanna fiddle with the machine too much in the beginning either, seeing as the warranty goes straight down the pooper when you touch anything more complex than the CD drive.

DB, I dont mind the color on my ibook... never been an issue... and I deal with adjusting color alot in my images/illys.

i chose the pb cause of the widescreen 15inch format. the colours are truer on the pb especially shooting digital, and most of the little pluses you have to add after the fact are already in the powerbook. [airport, bluetooth, s video....]
oh and the scratch resistance... [i'd choke of my comp looked beat like my ipod]
like most expensive things, you really only want to buy it once. it's wicked fast, cram the ram up to what.. 4gigs? and looks nice for clients.
how can your friend be a photographer and not care about colour/quality? like my deslgn teacher said many years ago, "always write with your favourite pen" like your tools, and you will use them more and better.
i think the pb is be u tee ful.
just my 2cents...what do you think zoowada?
