it's about making a buck folks, as far as movies go you're still pretty free to release whatever the hell you want over here, despite popular belief

i mean really, Ken Park was made here!

Again, before Bush was in power. Anyway, dont take it so personal. Some places I dont expect any less... Israel, Middle East. Point is a refelction on the changing climate in the United States. Yeah the first ammendement and everything, but you can't deny Hollywood and the culture producing corporations are under pressure from a Christian right resurgence. Which is very different to the climate that prevailed in that country pre-Bush.
Don't take it too personally. Just observing

But did Gibson remove anything out of PAssion of the Christ in the end?
That isn't a leading question, I am interested if the pressure ultimately meant he had to make cuts?
For what it's worth I thought that was wrong as much as the sex in the city cuts star tv made across the whole of south east asia because singapore demanded it. (an episode of sex in the city lasts about 14 mins over there...)

As a neo-liberal-fascist I say it's time to organise! I mean, look at what "we're" up against..

FuckPigs, all - Heil Ghandi!

i'm not taking it personal!
i'm just offering an opposing viewpoint as someone that lives over here and experiences our culture on a daily basis!
@soda: i dunno if he made cuts or not? never paid too much attention to the news around that movie.
but to come to a middle road, YES hollywood has changed a little in order to keep their profits up. this story is one example.

Just seeing a pattern is all. Obviosuly i'm a "liberal" and believe hardcore donkey porn should be available on TV 24 hours a day all over the world etc...

i think the fear is that we are all moving towards a nanny state where someone else decides what we should or shouldn't watch.
However in the case of Kuz's Liberal Donkey Porn, I can't help think it might not be a bad idea...

these are some of the worst arguements in the history of arguements... people... please stick to your day jobs.

freedom of speech is holy.
- ********0
What arguments?
- Mimio0
It just shows that the movie makers want to make money rather than be controversial.
- cola0
kuz? do you live in America?
- ********0
spare me gents
- ********0
Yes. But I dont think either of those films are controversial. There's been far more controversial shit been put out since the 1960s, just saw Midnight Cowboy again recently... I just don't see why this shit is all of a sudden controversial again

your profile says UK. I only ask because you seem to be making quite some broad assumptions about a group of people based on your internet research.
- ********0
broad assumptions is what i'm about baby ;)
- ********0
(btw, all my assumptions are based on print media and broadcast media - not internet research)
- cola0
I don't think I personally would do that. I cannot imagine making a broad generalization about the Catholics in the UK after reading some articles online. Especially that I don't live there to experience it myself. I think this is how we get into wars and racism.

aww cola.
I was talking about a geniune political phenomena in the United States. Not making a comment on Christians or Christianity in general. Just like u can talk about Islamic terrorism without making broad assumptions on Islam as a faith... tho that doesn't happen much these days.
k?
