hehehe,
so don't u think the Christian fundamentalists in America are crazy fools that are detrimental to our collective cultural output with their monopoly on political power soda?
- tfsmag0
pretty much every religion uses their political influence to control "cultural output" in some part of the world.
not just christians in america
but yeah, that sucks they can't put the thing out as it was meant to be.

I just think they're fucking twats.

yes but back in Clintonian times, even tho i never liked him, there was a mood in the country in terms of its cultural output. U had shows like Sex and the City and even Friends etc;; American TV seemed more liberal... and now the atmosphere has turned for the worst

i think it's all too confusing for me...
mind you, I'm a Catholic-Muslim so things are bound to be a little bit mixed up.......

there is a shift in the west towards the right, and those crazy neo cons do give me the shits too...
but saying that theres a few loopers to the east too.
Can't we all just get along!?!?

sex in the city was on a pay channel HBO and it has just recently been picked up by a cable network for syndication. HBO still shows plenty of sex-themed shows, especially later at night? We also still have shows like Will and Grace that explore gay life styles in a comedic manner, as well as shows pushing the envelope like south park and cartoon network's adult swim.
in fact our programming hasn't really changed at all. funny how one exposed boob getting way too much attention makes the whole world think that we have completely changed our programming!
Where are you getting your information about our programming from anyway?

I'm just talking about the Hollywood cultural machine. The present climate is ill condusive to the very forward thinking liberal moods of the 90s. I know both sides and stuff... but because Hollywood is so much part of us in the whole West, and American TV.. it's like fuck... something to be more directly bothered about
- ********0
No where. I mean those shows started before Bush became Pres. Just what i'm seeing happening over there. Post Janet's nipple, seems like a very reactionary mood towards the media in that coutry

"The forthcoming Hollywood adaptation of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy is to sacrifice many of the film's anti-religious sentiments in an effort to avoid a backlash from America's Christian right."
...this revision is probably more to do with ensuring high ticket sales and an 'accessible' film for the masses. Piss easy to blame it on the right wing christians. again.
- tfsmag0
yeah, has less to do with politics and more to do with them wanting to make a buck!
- soda0
same difference though isn't it Bluejam?
The backlash from the Christian Right would hit them in the pocket?
- tfsmag0
would you be saying the same thing if the news was...
"mel gibson deletes scenes that make jews look bad to show passion of the christ in isreal"
or
"sex in the city to air in syndication on al-jazeera after they take out all shots of women not wearing a robe and veil"
