Kia Ora,
Im want to update a friends ipod, but he has been updating it on a PC since i last had it, so now it seems to be formatted for a PC and wont show up in my itunes (osx)
question is, can you still update the pod on a mac once its been used on a PC without re-storing the settings (and deleting all his music!)
?

i don't think you can do that, sorry

my understanding is that you'll have to now update it on a pc. If your using it on a pc this shouldn't be a problem right?

you're stuck.
either you iPod PC or you iPod Mac. there is no happy medium... I wish there was.

ah fuk it
wish he hadnt gone and done that.
but it was formatted for mac, so hes obviouslty changed it while keeping the music on the pod

there must be a some software out there that'll let you see it as a drive on your mac have you tried ipodlounge.com ?

IRiver - just like an Ipod, except it can record. Pretty cool - has a colour screen - just plug your digicam into it, download your photos straight onto the hard-drive. Doesn't really work thru Itunes, but theres heaps of other programmes just as good to create your playlists. Even cheaper than Ipods on ebay.

I should really be working instead of helping a stranger on an internet forum.

"Although if you want to use it with Windows aswell, you might as well leave it as Windows formatted. The Mac will read and use a Win iPod just fine, however a PC won't read a Mac iPod."
this isnt the case for me, wont show up at all in itunes, only on my desktop
