Damn, pretty amazing.
I'd love to get myself back doing 3d, but the stress level is def pretty high. I don't know if I still have the brain for it.

superbaka...
does Steve Ditko have anything to do with the production or story in the new movie series?
I work w/his nephew (also Steve Ditko) but he's lost touch with his uncle....
... I was just curious as to how much (if any) input the originator of Spidey has in the movies.

my understanding is essentially none. especially after the first film.
at this point, sam and his brother are working on the third. then they get a screenwriter(s) to format it.
all design is handled by sam's guys and us.
avi arad oversees all production for the marvel approval, so its like having two clients (sony+marvel). even stan lee got pushed out.
- abizzyman0
:) gotcha.
You ever get any feedback from Ditko or Lee?
There creation makes millions each year (and is a great story!)... there's a lot of history there... I wonder if they even give feedback after the films been made.
I have a lot of respect for the originators of classic icons like spidey or godzilla... stuff like that is always going to be timeless and was the first of it's kind.

"You ever get any feedback from Ditko or Lee?"
as i said, they were off the scene. avi and sam, yes. sam daily, of course. fortunetely, he let me do all the city shot layouts and approved almost every one no questions asked. he was pretty blown away (of course he had bigger things to worry about than the bgs!)
if you pick up the dvd, im mentioned in a few places on the commentary track. :P

I meant post production feedback... "good job, kid!"... or "wtf did you do to my creation you snot-nosed shit eater?!"...
... hehe...
stuff like that. ;)

i saw an interview with lee where he was his usual hyperactive self saying, "im so amazed to see what the animators have done with my creation! its so awesome!"..
i dont know anyone associated with marvel that is not very pleased with the results.
i presented the work to the director of the upcoming superman who gave me high praise..then gave us the project. :)

Great work Dan -
I've been a huge spidey fan from a kid and held my breath when I heard the movie was coming out.
I was relieved to see the CG was done so perfectly.
Good to see someone doing brilliant stuff out there.
