canon 10d is a nice camera, but canon l glass makes this camera kick ass. especially for outdoors and sports.

hey canuck, I took a full on closeup +flash and it looks decent with more light on it. still waaay too many artifacts and dodgy coloration, but I'll post an update. Still I hate this camera.

man, looks like they wasted that whole 15 seconds of design time with the whole 'look and feel' of the camera...

a) that boot isn't small. size 13, US. Look at the proportions.
b) the lighting is the best I could get, especially with the ( 3!!!!1) different flash settings and reflected light on the white paper. It should have been muuuuch brighter. This room has 4 100 watts in the ceiling, so it's not dim by any means.

yeah, i'm sure he had bad lighting. but with a point and shoot camera, you have no control over shutter speed and aperture.
that camera is just not designed to do still shots. its for taking pictures of your drunken good times.

i have a mark II.... so i would tell you to only buy canon because they are amazing... even thier smaller cameras kick ass.

he made a picture with it?
- meok0
Did anybody mentioned that the reason he got a crappy pic was also due to insufficient light?

shits great for a like a gay midget james bond.. he could go all secret with that little boot and take picshurs!!

Man I take shit photographs now that I have a digital. I used to think about my shot and plan stuff out when I had my old Contax. I miss film
- fate0
hmmm. I don't think I can use a 35mm after using a digital. I am too finicky and impatient.
- canuck0
if you buy a point and shoot camera, you get point and shoot pictures.
you'd be better getting your self a film camera if you want to do still shots like that boot.
You could probably pick up like a cheap pentax k1000 (asahi) and a half decent lens for about the same as that point shoot turd you have. Then you would have full control over the shot.

bSavoy, have you shot your 9 inches yet?
penor self-portraits are teh haute.

I'm not sure if I could handle a camera that needs different lenses and such. I'm just not into photography enough to learn all the differences and nuances.

d70 500 cheaper and better cam..

Dslr cameras have bigger sensors. I mean dimmensions, not megapixel-count. That makes them a lot less noisy at higher ISOs. Moreover, tonal range is wider in dslr.
I've succesfully corrected pictures from my D30 that were strongly underexposed, even from a jpg. I don't think you could do that with a compact camera picture. What's dark is dark, there is no information written there in compacts. And I haven't started talking about RAW format yet.
BTW, I sold my Canon D30 this morning. I'm choosing between a 10D and a Nikon D70..

thanx on the comments man...its not like im loaded, i just worked and saved...took a few months but was worth the wait...i had a lil fuji before and it was a piece...but yea if its mainly for personal use then go for it...

bSavoy, your photos are really beautiful though, I'm quite jealous I can't afford that camera. But I simply don't have the cash on hand and anything incoming will go towards needs instead of wants. Plus the camera will be used for mainly none-work pruposes like taking pictures of my snowboard boots ;)
