Just wondering who's got shares and in what? Also, you're age and how long you've had them for.
I'm 19 and at the moment have none. I'm looking at investing in shares when I have a little money to spare and I've been keeping an eye on two companies in particular in the past couple of months which had I had the money then, I would have bought shares in - Apple (AAPL) and Pixar (PIXR). Both have been doing quite well (links in a minute).

dude, i'm impressed your even thinking about investing. Hate to tell you what i spent my money on when I was 19.

I think you can make more money on oil or pork bellies and other boring stuff... but I guess it feels better to own a bit of Apple or Pixar.
- jamble0
wouldn't Apple shares be vastly overpriced like their products?
I spent my money on cigarettes when I was 19.

Owning overpriced shares is a good thing.

If you own shares, and the value goes up, you make money...

Yeah it's not smart to buy apple right now, it's due for a drop. look at its history.

Since the legal drinking age here is 18, I did most of my money blowing between 15 and 18.. :P Time to settle down now.
I'm also expecting Nintendo shares (NTDOY) to go up a fair bit in the next couple of months. I sound like such a geek...Nintendo, Apple and Pixar shares *narf*
Here's the progress of said shares in the past 3 months:

Fark that's a link and a half!

you shouldn't be looking at the 3 month timeline. I assume you want to invest this money, not turn a profit. So view it over the long term and see what I mean about apple.

Who do you use for 'brokerage'? Is it an online service?
I'm currently looking into eTrade, but beyond that I'm a bit clueless about the actual ..method.. in buying and selling shares.

I'm NOT buying shares in Apple, Pixar or any other company.
I was just saying that I've been watching the stocks and IF I had the money three months ago I would have invested in them THEN.
As for looking at the three month stats, I was just showing how the stocks have performed since I've been watching them.
I know Apple are due for a dive sometime soon, and when it happens I'm gonna pounce. Pixar may very well plummet soon too as they're about to release their last movie as part of their now-defunct partnership with Disney..after that they're a free bird and who knows what'll happen.

Raaar! Go, Tiger!

good Pyro, Apple will probably be in for a correction in next years first quarter after Christmas hype dies down.

Buying individual stocks is pretty risky. You're better off buying shares in a mutual fund or index fund.

i own daimler-chrysler, microsoft, and apple. just bought the apple shares, and i wish i hadn't...they're at a 4-year high and are bound to come down. but if they do, i'll get some more.

you should have bought apple shares before they launched Itunes... same with Pixar. Altough the Pixar shares could get you quite some money on a longterm base.... unless they renew their disney deal.
