when I hear "rave" I think about mayday and the loveparade in the mid 90ies.....
never saw glowing sticks or neon wear at a drum n bass thingy

my great grandmother was a hard-core raver back in the early 1900's. the scene was huge then back in napoli.... after she immagrated to the usa, she was known as a pioneer of the new jersey rave scene in the 1920's. she decided that raves in the desert would be the next big thing, so she packed her bags and headed to barstow. there it seemed the scene was just not ready to blossom... so she decided to raised a family instead...
the end.

I remember going to the local coffee house on big rave nights, it was like disneyland... except everyone was on heavy narcotics.

I had brief spells.
Them were the days, driving down to miss moneypenny's in Birmingham in the back of an Astra van or to Cream when it opened.

The glow sticks were always around but they weren't the prominent visual at most east coast parties i attended. Oversize designer wear, 30 " wide legs and fabulous dancing were what i remember most.
