hey all, just wanted to give our reasons for closing the submissions early. which i know has annoyed people and for that we apologise.
the main reason is that we had limited space available and it has been filled. the reason we did not wait until after the deadline to choose the work that would be in the book is that we are busy organising the events and didn't want to have to do it all at once. we had already received well over 500 entries so as i'm sure you can imagine, it takes quite a bit of time to go through all of them and choose. to do that in one go after the deadline would have taken too long so to to try and counter that we chose as they came in.
anyway, we know that may not be the best way to do it but we wnated to make sure we had the time to properly look through each submission.
the other reason we closed the submissions was that we did not want people to take time out to design a piece knowing they would not be able to be in this book. we don't want to waste peoples times. however, we (stupidly) forgot that people would have already started on their work. so if you have already started please feel free to send the work over to us (low res please) and we will keep it on file for possible use in our next two books which are set to be published in 2005.
we apologise for any annoyance this has caused.
ps. i haven't read this whole thread so if I have left any important questions unanswered please just drop us an email.

next time put a disclaimer on it or something... or a counter.. stating that you will just go to 500 submissions and then close it. and show the no. of subs in the counter.
i was really disappointed by this.
- blackspade0
