JazX, u understand aswell as me that one of the biggest mistakes [besides the idea of 'colonizing'] was the creation of 'countries' without any respect or interest towards the different ethnicities [and rivalries] of all the different groups.
Christ, Angola has a border that it's a straight line! For almost 2000 km! We were either stupid or insane.

Yes, VERY true, even today, these NeoColonial Black African leaders are saying, hey let's stick to Colonial Borders, which IMO is a mistake. Because you get skirmishes all the time along those areas. The Colonists sliced those up ibn Berlin (I think?), with no regard to tribal lands and such.

Second, since when did being older make a country better? Isn't that a simplistic overgeneralization?
Third, what is French culture anyway? Wearing black turtlenecks and berets sideways, listening to bad techno, smoking cheap cigarettes and discussing the meaningless of the world?
Finally, all cultures and governments are flawed, particularly America, so the idea of saying one is better than the other is silly. With that said, I hate when the French get pretentious and act like they're so civilized and forget the actions of their own leaders and people.

after barely recovering after the first world war they knew full well they could not fight the germans again and survive

I liked some of Godard's films, 400 Blows was awesome, Camus was a brilliant writer, and Amelie was beautiful, but come on folks, Jerry Lewis is a legend in France. This whole "our culture is better" fallacy ends here.
