I'm still waiting on the download, so it looks like it will be tomorrow before I can start. Dammit!
BTW, I read that you have to connect and unlock the game each time you play, so taking the computer somewhere to unlock won't be an option.

nnngh... you can buy it online?
ohmy. I hope no one misses their internet connection for the next couple of hours or so.
*whimper
- benfal990
No!
the unlocking process is only the FIRST time you start the game. But get an Internet connection anyway, you'll like it... the inter-net. ;)

And about the system specs recommanded....
the minimum requirement is a joke, if you have the minimum you'll have a really bad time playing the game. And for the recommanded system.... yeah but try to get more, really. Otherwise you'll play in 640x480.... and everyone know the games start to be nice at 1024x768...
Companies always give specs to get more poeple buying the game... dont trust companies specs (specs on the package of pc games) Go on forums on the web and listen what people says. Its the best thing to do.

for exemple:
this is my system >
Pentium IV - 3.0ghz
Asus GeForce4 Ti4200-128Mb
DDR RAM - 1024Mb
HD - WD Raptor SATAThe game ran smooth at the beggining, but when I arrive in the plaza, the frame rate haved drop a bit... and there is no explosion or gunfight over there. Iam playing the game in 1024x768 with all the graphic setting to the top. I'll later in the game if I need to drop down the graphic settings...
Now try to imagine Iam having the minimum system recommanded .... I can't imagine that! iiiiihhrk!

Yeah, my 'state of the art' machine that I bought in anticipation for HL2 this time last year is now off spec, and my bastard friend sitting next to me will likely buy 'a state of the art' machine now and blow my HL2 experience out of the water. Asshole.
I hate technology (but am a slave to it).

hahahaha.
That the bad thing about playing games on PCs, you need to spend $2000 to pay a fucking game. Just get a PS2 and have done with it.
As for graphics PS2 Splitter Cell is just as good as Half Life 2 from what I can see. And you are guaranteed that it works on your systerm.

so I guess my dell 2.4ghz p4 512ram laptop with a 32 bit video card doesn't have a prayer... sniff, sniff... well I need a new desktop at home anyway... ebay had some killer prices when i looked yesterday.

It might be ported to mac!
- HumanMale0
Haha. I love it when people try and compare PS2 graphics with PC graphics.
Don't get me wrong, I love PS2... but to say the graphics are equal – are you blind boy?!
;-)

played it last night for awhile. all hype aside, it's probably one of the best games i've ever played.

hows the game compared to DOOM 3???
- toastie0
Doom3 is utter shit compared to it. I have a PC that can run both at the highest settings possible, and graphically, HL2 blows Doom3 out of the water. Conceptually and gameplay-wise, Doom3 is just a piece of junk compared to HL2. Doom3 was a neat engine with a crappy game to show it off. HL2 is a piece of art in every aspect.
- jackfoley0
I agree, the look of the levels in Doom 3 became repetative very quickly. That aspect alone made the game very dissapointing. Virtually every room looked the exact same.
- benfal990
the force of DOOM III is the shadows and lights only.
- benfal990
HL2 is incredible!
Give me a crowbar!
