Is it possible to use artwork made in Flash (with trace bitmaps, etc) for high quality prints? I know you can print from Flash but would a publisher accept this format or would you have to redo it in a vector program to be acceptable?
Also what about using this type of artwork for silksreening? Or is it too difficult ot separate the colors in this format?

For some printers a hi-res tiff is sufficient... export at 300 dpi instead of 72 and make sure you have no bitmaps in it coz they'll probably look shite :)
screen printing you're better off importing your fla directly into illustrator etc.

I'm using V6. I dont see an option to export as a TIFF.
I wasn't aware that you could import an fla directly into illustrator. Are you talking about exporting an image as an AI file and opening it in Illustrator?

exprt as a bmp and then convert to a tiff in photoshop...
you're going ot have to use your noodle...
...See what formats you can export from flash... and what you can import to your other packages

You can export from Flash to an EPS or AI, both of which Illustrator should be able to open. Fonts and bitmaps don't export as well as drawn elements.
Screenprinting usually works best with spot color separations, unless your printing CMYK, which I wouldn't recommend on a tee unless you really trust your screenprinter and they have experience doing CMYK on a tee, which is much harder than traditional print.

So is it pretty much impossible to do a color separation in Illustrator with a complicated trace bitmap image?

I'd stick with Illy for this. It's gonna get nasty. I mean you might be able to grab those Flash graphics, paste them into Illy and export out as .eps. But even then it could get messy.

More time consuming than impossible. You'll learn to love the "Select same" feature in Illustrator. :-)

The only reason I would use Flash is that I like to use trace bitmap on simple painting Ive done because I like the randomness of the shapes it creates. Maybe I should experiment with Streamline or something else instead.
