Right now I work as a 3D animator. I spend all my day designing and creating models of various architectural interriors, products, etc.
But I'm also somewhat interested in actually creating furniture or products. Does anyone know how to go about getting an apprenticeship in woodworking or something similar? I'm in NYC so I assume there has to be places here to learn. I've googled this but it's hard to weed out the good sources as I know next to nothing about this industry.
Thanks.

i'm an avid woodworker. i've been actively involved in this hobby for about eight years.
for all intents and purposes the knowledge has been gained from books, magazines, etc.
that's the joy of living in this time... 100 years ago you couldn't learn anything about this without dedicating yourself to an apprenticeship. these days there are plenty of publications that can help you.
favorites of mine are the following mags: wood, popular woodworking, woodsmith, fine woodworking.
the best woodworkers of our day are publishes monthly/bi-monthly in these mags.
