grafholic,
I've found Toronto to be one of the most pretentious places, and for very little reason. Most girls look at you and are like, "why aren't you wearing a $300 tight black shirt" or "what you don't have a car" Not that I care about that so much anymore, being a married man. It's hard to nail down, but I was chatting with this guy in Amsterdam, who lives/works in both TO and the Dam, and he never wants to come back here, he felt the same way re: attitude.

Dear Mr. Harmon J. Snuggles,
Perhaps, if time permits, we should continue to converse and utilize an online instant messenging system, such as MSN for example.
With kind regards,
dfd

Dearest dfd,
Or we could be like Sean and Derek and just use NT to share our every single thought, musing and whim.
best regards,

mr_snuggles,
i wonder if you're talking about people on yonge st? (haha).
yeah there are pretentious people, but then after living in different cities (originally coming from japan, have lived in tokyo, toronto, and now in san fran), everywhere has pretentious people. i didn't particularly feel that toronto was worse than other big cities while i did feel in certain neighborhoods there were higher density of pretentious people.
i've learned to ignore them (and make fun of their ignorant lifestyle). what i loved about toronto is the variety of creativity and entertainment it offered as well as diversity. and i mean diversity in a different way from the US.
on top of that, i sort of miss 4 seasons being different. here in san fran, i feel like we have two seasons: dry season and wet season.
