no one wants to pay $55 ($75 in nyc) for a carton of smokes here in NY. i get them out of state for $20. hence the decline in sales. :oP

i was shocked and pleased to find out that smokes cost $3 a pack in minneapolis (i was there for the weekend) here in alberta where i live they are $11 to $12!!! needless to say i bought a carton, then smuggled them accross the border.

nyc has a like a $2.50 a pack tax
usually the smokes are bought from virginia then sold here for like $30 to $40 a carton (10 packs)

The store by my house (in toronto) still sells for $7.50 a pack. But with this ban in effect, I've found few bars that have proper smoking rooms, it's killing me not to be killing myself with constant smoking!!

I have tried to quit smoking countless times. It's been 5 days since my last cigarette, and about a months since the one before that, but every once in a while I start to crave the Lucky Strikes.

although i agree on the whole as to smoking bans on public places as a way of respect for those who don't smoke...
... but people must know that public health in scotland would improve THE BEST EVER if they'd stop selling wee knives te lads all arund Glasco!
