I find it all rather silly.

I was jsut wondering when it was that majors started picking up on the music and pretty much just marketed the bands as a new generation of boy-bands....

Our first show is this coming Sunday, and I am not fretting over what TO wear, but over WHAT NOT TO WEAR.

the only band that had it right with the extra cash that might have been given to them to wear a particular style of dress is Smasing Pumpkins. Toward the end there they all looked like they were from another planet, Corgan especially.

the rebirth of Mod started with Rites of Spring in DC back in 1986

the DC mod rock look took was way ahead of it's tme, that's where all the nerdy glasses came from to (no kiddies it wasn't Chester from Lincoln Park)- it use to be called DC STYLE...Then New York Progressive hardcore bands took it over, like Drew from Into Another, Supertouch, etc. Eventually Philly and San Fran claimed it as their own...
15 years later- emo kids who ironically got their inspiration from 5th generation indie emo started sporting it...

Yeah- it's not cool anymore, they all look the same- but no different than a jock rocker in a Jersey with a 1950's haircut talkin style...It's rock n roll- it's how it works... rockers should have tight jeans and tats not hip hop pants and headbands...

Nation of Ulysses formed in 1988- after Rites of Spring... but sure they took it to the next level-
and yes- the Beatles, the Stones, but we are talking re-birth here...
whatever- point is- refering to emo- kids are looking at it as some new style of music, these are the same who think punk started with Green Day...
Emo, or pre-Sunny Day Real Estate...melodic hardcore is not new- and it's original generation produced some great tunes.
