i keep making posts on "hey remember that..." and various retro pop culture subjects so from now on i'l confine those things to this thread, as i know it can be annoying.
i just remembered my FIRST exosure to punk. It was Alvin and the Chipmunks and if i remember correctly they sang a song with three chords that just kept going "we dont care no we dont care", i believe theodore wore a berret and simon had a mohawk. that is a scary memory.

mine too

i remember Mad Balls. they were these balls that fell in an acid factor (or so the story goes) and they got these weird faces.
and i had a kitt burning key car and michael jackson pin of him in a berret. i think its from the say say video

and i guess none of u yanks will remember "captain power", it was a CANADIAN show with the wickedest concept. you bought these toys and you could shoot on the screen at this 1/2 hour show that was on tv every week. it was a genius concept and im surprised no one is ripping it off today. it worked with infared technology. i think this was around 1987. if you want to make big bucks, steal this idea.

wasnt that show about saving the planet
and they had charactes like
WIND
FIRE
etc/
- bulletfactory0
that was captain planet.
i do remember playing captain power when i was young - i had a friend that had a couple of the hand held planes. that was cool.

aliendn, you just brought back a lot of watercoloured memories!!
- mr_snuggles0
I actually have Chipmunk Punk on vinyl still!!
- johnnyhashcraft0
brother power
- aliendn0
are u for real?!? that is hardcore, that is more hardcore than any of those so called real punks!
you are a trail blazer my friend!
- mr_snuggles0
Yeah, it's fo real. I kept all my vinyl from when I was a lad always knowing that one day it would come in handy.
I've been known to drop "baby beluga" over a DJ Shadow beat...

another CANADIAN reference:
anyone remember some mini commercial kind of thing where this guy was standing on a log on the water and all of a sudden the damn thing morphs into a cartoon!? it had some annoying but catchy song, like "he goes rolling rolling down the river"
and that was moons before roger rabbit.

the only vinyl i have and its sad to admit is "kid n play's funhouse" single, but it was either that or paula abdul, so i think i made the wiser decision.
- aliendn0
fred penner, holmes could u ever strum a bad combo of chords?
- mr_snuggles0
hahahaha!
Fred Penner is a friend of mine's uncle!!
- aliendn0
haha no way? i dug his show, even though he seemed like a forest recluse, maybe that was the appeal.
so any connections to sharon lois and bram? the good folks at today's special? sam crenshaw up in this! oh and muffy the mouse was my first exposure to rap...sort of.
- mr_snuggles0
he was a recloose 'cause he was always dodging those pediphilia charges...
Today's Special was great, so was Green Forest, Fraggle Rock...oh, and on the game show tip, what about Definition?!?
- aliendn0
green forest was crazy depressing man, i think it was all the dark cmyk green or something...
but what was definition? in terms of game shows i got bumper stumpers, kid street, chain reaction(where ialways beat the adults), jackpot(the one with the riddle) oh and classic concentration with alex tribek!
- aliendn0
sorry about all the canadian references, but here's another one. one of the worst bands we ever produced was "the northern pikes" but they had a great video called "she ain't pretty she just looks that way" where a fit chick was hot, but then her face got all zombie like and busted like claymation.

ALIENDIN! i had a big poster from captain power on my door and played every vid. i must have benn the only kid in whole switzerland ho enjoyed that show...
