downtown manhattan. i pay 25% of my salary. and that's before taxes. i deduct some portion of my rent for home office so probably it evens out.

About 26.5% including mortgage, PMI (unfortunately), insurance and property taxes. Would be 18.5% if it was only the mortgage.
That's in the St Louis area.

37.5% gets me my own house in Maryland. I guess the sting isn't so bad cause the interest on the note is tax deductable.
A designer living in suburbia is a freaky thing. Like everyone else is a banker or a plumber... the other adults just can't grasp the fact that this is a "job".
