Yes.. a new laptop should be out beginning of next year. Cross yoru fingers for a G5 but most likely it will be a dual processor.
Yes.. the powerbooks are aluminum keyboards

About Applecare...It will cover anything that is apples fault and only for laptops will it cover it world wide and it has to be registered to an address in whatever country you buy it.
So you can't get it in America and move to China because they will send the repair back to America.
The phone support is also ranked #1 by consumer reports. Also the Unix core is super nice and networking with a PC is very easy.

you serious kidn. omg.. so its not like the dell extended accidental warranty where it covers cracked screens eh..
is it worth getting the apple care?

apple care has given me a new display after i stuck a fillet knife into my laptop (long sotry)...
also, onc i broke a key off the keyboard and got a new keyboard...
also, about the Ram, I just mean to get as much as you can, cause it is always better to use that way...

apple care has fixed my power supply that went out after i spilled water on it. I dry'd it out so well they didnt know though. But still... get it

i'll make a note of the app care.. but damn its costs how long have you folks had your pbooks for?
but the thing is - its costs about 100 usd more for us canadians to get app. care -_-"

laptops are hard to keep safe.. they go everywhere.. they get beat up more than you think ... and the price of replacing stuff is way more than apple care

Macs dont have to worry as much about viruses and exploitation of utilities or apps like Windows Messenger, etc.
They are DAMN expensive, tho.

Re Applecare... I bought a Powerbook in US, moved back to UK...the warranty/repairs are all done here as normal... It's fully international coverage...actually that one was repaired both in US and UK.
Have had quite a few faults on both my Powerbooks (had the white spots on the G4 screen), but repair has always been fairly painless, with 4-5 day turnaround.

say for some stupid reason i ordered apple care in uh.. say uh hong kong (cuz its a whole lot cheaper).. and so happens i need to get something fixed and i'm in canada.. the apple care.. are they going to send it to the apple serv. center in hong kong or somewhere remotely near hk.. or are they going to send it to the nearest location.. and typically how long would service take? i've heard about 24 - 48 hrs?

Should be nearest Apple Powerbook repair centre... UK Powerbooks go to Ireland I think...not sure reallly..they just take it away and bring it back...max I've had is around 7 days for major repair
