I'm working on a new design. I like the overall look but I'm not sure how I feel about the image in the right. I think it will be cool overall, but just need to see if I'm going in the right direction with the 'eye candy factor'

comon man....I need help here!!!

[only cos u voted 4 kerry ;-) ]
seems good.
I would have used another pixel font, less 'cyber' [narrow 97 standard or kroeger from http://miniml.com ].
The 'Feature Client' white 'stripe' should be aligned at the top of the purple box.

not fond of the colors or typeface. the build and layout seem nice though.

It's a little hard to say whether the image is justified or not. Once you have your content in place it'll be easier to crit. I'm not a fan of the colour scheme, but I like how the interface builds itself. Not a big fan of the typeface either. Sorry not to be more helpful.

yeah sorry x. i think most of us are just in a daze from the news. you may get some more help later
- xaoscontrol0
yeah I understand.....so what other color scheme would be better? I was trying to be subtle but I'm also trying to stay away from the same colors everyone else is using.
that white line with FEATURED CLIENT in it...I wanted to make it appear as if it's in a small header ( if that makes sense)...maybe if I moved th strip up a little to make a one pixel border? doe

one more thing:
your buttons on the top have its typeface blurred. if you want the typeface to be 'crisp' you have to left align it. You can center it after using a Math.round with its _x position.
- mr_snuggles0
I wouldn't stay away from "colours everyone else is using" just for that fact alone. I like to keep my interface (for personal portfolio) colours very toned down and neutral so they don't take away from the work presented. So I'd say use whatever colour scheme you like and is reflective of yourself and will help show off you work well. Another thing I didn't like was the rollover. The button style seems a bit out of place with the flatness of the interface.

what browser/platform are you using?
are you talking about the moust-over button?
- mr_snuggles0
Oh sorry, it's the mouse-over on home, services, process, etc. I'm on a mac using ie. 5.1.
- xaoscontrol0
mr_s:
I'm guessing you're talking about the mouse-over floating thing....it looks like a button...so maybe I should give it less girth by killing the gradient and making it flat..it has a subtle drop shadow which I thought was a nice touch to give it that floating appearance.
I have the hardest time with colors and typography...i've learned to tone down specific colors
is it the purple-ish color that's out of place or maybe the green?
- mr_snuggles0
Yes it's those mouse-over floating things, and I agree that if you lose the gradient and drop-shadow it'd be more appropriate.
I think either the purple or green could work on their own and using tones of one or the other would be nice. But that's just me, I'm a very monochromatic designer and many think that I'm boring!
- xaoscontrol0
hmm...looks like I need to look at some color schemes for alt ideas....monochromatic isn't bad...I haven't done that in a while
uhg...here I again face the difficult stage of designing one of my sites.....
....and my anal retentive side rears it's ugly head.....
- xaoscontrol0
here's an alternate version
- mr_snuggles0
I dig the colour scheme much more now.
- airey0
man, the tooltips look more like buttons than the actual buttons. wtf?
- xaoscontrol0
that's next to be updated, I was playing with the color scheme first
thanks, mr_s

J/K Derek, you're alright kid.

the floaty buttons look cheap. i prefer static pop-ups
your second version is much better than the first.
throw some lorem ipsom text in there, or something to give a better impression of what it will look like as a background...
