I think #2 is better. Any consideration on reworking the RiverHawks type so that it isn't as wonky? Everything is so symmetrical except the type.

this is a jpg test before i go vector, i'm way more proficient in photoshop than ai, so i'm just creating looks.

i grew up in genoa. spent a lot of time in rockford and belviqueer.
i'll be there for the bodybuilding show being held at the jefferson high school on saturday. saturday night we'll be hitting up ginos east pizza. cna't wait. haven't had pizza in 4 months. i'm dyin.

I would suggest creating the bat in Illustrator to match the rest of the logo.
Also, I don't dig how the gray outline of the "A" is so close to the "O" in Rockford. Maybe make Rockford a little bigger as a solve.
