1. Dunno much about unprotecting, but i heard 'Hymn' is pretty usefull for that. http://hymn-project.org
2. you get to select what to sync in your preferences. If you have more than fits, it will tell you and/or just stop when its full (obvious?)
3.sync is the ONLY way to keep track of played on ipod vs itunes. next time you sync playcount and play-dates are sent back (as well as rating) to itunes which does some clever database stuff

thanks stv3, so if its synced and i lisen to a sound twice on the pod and once on itunes when i hook back up will the play count go up three to reflect both pod and itunes plays or will it rest the pods count to equal itunes?
not that it is that important or anything i am just curious.

even better, modify a boombox and put a 400gb hard drive in there. I mean if it's not goin in your pocket, might as well do it up. It'll probably be cheaper than an ipod, with 10 times the storage and speakers.

who really cares if the new ipods aren't leading the way? they're damn fine gadgets and everyday mine serves its purpose, to lemme listen to my music without the fuss and clunkiness of every other mp3 player out there. if i download a new song, it takes me 2 seconds to transfer it to my ipod and then i'm out the door. if you want to use some other (albeit less) player -- go ahead. leave the people that bought an ipod alone -- didn't your mother ever tell you -- if you can't say something nice......

if you're watching video on a screen that small (1st of all, 40 GB ain't gonna give you much space), what does that say about your appreciation of that medium?
i don't listen to my CDs on turd-ass speakers. why would i watch my movies on a turd-ass screen>?

The only difference is that Archos stuff looks like a donkey ploped it out it's rear end. Apple stuff actaully looks and feels better!

I just think it kinda sucks that they release a new ipod with a colour screen with more battery life than the normal one. It seems like something they could have easily implemented to the 4 gens just to make their product a little better, especially compared to battery life of other players.
