haha thats to hilarious. I remember after i bought it i thought half the pages were missing like a moron, cause revies said there was like 1000 pages, and i saw that there was only about 500. i though, godamn those must be some hunchbacks carrying a book twice that size. then i realized only one side of the page was numbered and i stopped drinking.

Well, you may want to... I dunno, look at their site for ways to purchase their books.

I did try balancing it on the side of the bath but my bog is so small it made it impossible to "continue with my business" while I read...

...IN any case, lets talk about the book and not my chaffed flesh!
- chossy0
erm salisae I was joking sorry if you searched for it I meant no harm freinds? :) XX or did you get me back just then tee hee!

moving swiftly on from the subject of soda's chaffed flesh, anyone been to see "Communicate: British Independent Graphic Design since the Sixties" at the barbican? http://www.barbican.org.uk/galle…
features pentagram designers Alan Fletcher and David Hillman.
David Hillman is coming to do a talk at my work, should be interesting http://www.pentagram.com/people-…

yeah, i posted about it earlier today. I was pretty underwhelmed to be honest? Maybe it's because I had seen a lot of it already, but it didn't engage me at all?
I think because of the lack of context about each piece (if you compare it to the saul bass/peter saville show at the design museum) it seemed like there was almost too much?
I did love the old book designs and the political work posters section. I just wanted to know more...
- soda0
Rick Poynor who curated was asked about the lack of context at the show in this months creative review and he said buy the book to go with the show if you want to know the background to the pieces...
- vespa0
haha buy the book. that's a bit sad.
What do you think of how the shift from industrial design to graphic led exhibitions like the Peter Saville Show and Saul Bass have been generating so much criticism...?

the editorial of this months creative review hits that on the head really.
Its the design museum, not the industrial design museum after all!
And despite what Dyson has to say, more people are going the design museum now and it is putting on some stunning shows.
Thats got to be good right?

wish i were in london.
got a book - "graphic design as a second language" by bob gill - founder of pentagram
looks purty good!
- soda0
Bob Gill did an a amazing book on graphic design called "forget everything you know about graphic design" or something like that. I read it when I was at school it was awesome but I can't find it anymore.

phwoar just read that interview with rick poyner - bitch fight or what?! bless them
- soda0
I know!! It really kicks off!
Funny thing is Polynor has an article in Blueprint this month (back page I think) and he goes on about lack of discourse regarding graphic design! Too much eye candy I think he says and not too many articles about the theory or thought behind it!
