what kind of skills do you anticipate will be required?
i kind of see that the new designer will be the old designer. a hybrid of sorts. except that cross-pollination will occur more frequently with fields outside the scope of what is traditionally thought of as design.

They are going to what the "Designer" too do everything and in A 1 week deadline. hahahaah. And all for 25K. Or you could just work for free. Its graphic design dont you now, you are very lucky too be doing this job.

maybe the "new designer" will be able to design sites that dont follow current fashion trends, rip off other sites deemed as "cool", and think of their own original ideas. maybe they wont do "package deals" on websites - i.e 10 pages and your logo for $199. maybe they wont rely on other people to put content on their own personal websites (wallpaper competitions etc).
maybe .... just maybe ....
