I'd been wanting to see him live for a few years and I finally saw him play last Friday and it was a great show. He's an incredible live DJ and if you ever get a chance to see him, don't hesitate.

DJ Krush is amazing, I saw him do an electo set a few years back at the essential festival, unforgettable init

that would've been pretty amazing, he just played a lot of his tracks last week, but his mixing and beat juggling/manipulation is top knotch.

don't forget that many DJ's just mimic what has already been done in a studio, even if it does seem he is mixing it live. Not knocking his style or skills, but that's the sad truth about most of them these days. A lot of guys have laptops set up running their set. :)

Totally aware of that Jaz, that's like a lot of the Ninjatune blokes, Coldcut, DJ Food etc. I agree that that is pretty lame.

yeah, I mean no offense to DJ Krush, maybe he does his own stuff. But I mean it seems odd to just stand up and then hit play a few times.

I just saw RJD2 last weekend. His visuals were impressive (thanks in part to presstube)... but I really wondered how much he was actually manipulating the music up there...
Good point Jazxhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

yeah, there is a ton of software that basically lets you trigger samples via MIDI and then pow. Those samples can be one hits sounds, etc. or major composed tracks. So theoretically a DJ could just time 4 or five buttons into one song. :)

as long as they play the music you like who cares, these people have proved themselves as djs already, are they not aloud to use technolgy to better their sound just like we use photoshop to better our designs. Its just a tool

ehhh, I guess, depends if you are paying for it to see live. You kinda' expect it to be mixed live.

Saw him in LA a few weeks ago. spectacular. He is in the new issue of RE:UP magazine.
- JazX0
well there you have it, he mixes his own stuff, worth seeing.

Krush was in philly like 3-4 weeks ago..great outdoor show, great music, great vibe. . .

I thought you meant mixing bits and peices on a laptop while still using the turntable primarirly. I doubt that these high profile DJs purely use that for mixing. I dont think the promoters that have paid $$$$ to book them would tolerate it. But im sure its done sneekiely by some lesser kno0w djs.

i also saw him last week. awesome as always. his new album jaku is really good too. i've listened to it about twenty times since last week :)
oh yeah, it was all live mixing. that's how he always plays (at least the three times i've seen him that is.)

nahhhhhh, promoters could give a sh*t, they do it. Saw many bands and DJs that just trigger. There are plenty out there using application live Abelton Live: http://www.ableton.com/

I saw RJD2 a coupla months ago and was pretty disappointed, he was trying to do way too much for his skills. He had 4 decks and a sampler and he was mixing as well as using the sampler, like Shadow does, but RJ is more of a producer than a DJ. Even when you hear his mixtapes they're kinda weak, great tracks though.
