i switch back and forth every day. i think macs need a right mouse button and right-click context menus. and a more customizable gui.

i have a right mouse button on my mouse for my ibook.... they do exist and have the right click menu

More customizable GUI yes, but right clicking is sopprted. You should know that Mr. Jobs. OR IS THAT WHO YOU REALLY ARE.

I switch back and forth by turning my chair 120 degrees.

I am about to but a new machine for my freelance work soon. I really could use some input from former Mac users doing graphic design and DV editing on the PC.

yeah, but is it an apple mouse or one of those ugly belkin jobbies? i can't know everything about my company you know. besides, i'm working too hard on the new G5 powerbook. that's all i can say.
- DutchBoy0
how do you butt a new machine??

We switched 6 years ogo. Same programs, same results without any problems. The only difference? Saving all that money to help me buy a house instead of a computer, albeit a very beautiful looking computer.

I now have to use a PC at work (first time in years) and its not all that bad. We do all our video editing on PCs too...which isn't as intuitive IMO but can't say the difference is all that significant.

i use both now. you gotta know what to use for what..

Switched from MAC to PC...and I'll never go back. Expensive, overpriced, "too worried about looking sexy" piece of crap that is was.

my biggest issue going from mac to pc was all of the system keyboard shortcuts i used each day we different. stupid things like bullets, minimizing windows, etc. I still can't find the single character for "..."

I switched to PC for $$$ reasons. The GUI difference will bother you but you'll get over it. I don't do heavy graphic work that often but when i do...i notice the difference. For that I miss my mac but the PC does have its pros...its cheaper easier to upgrade...and it networks a hell of alot easier.

its all about what works best for you, for the programs you need and what you need your system to intergrate into.

i switched to mac

i switched a while back for my freelance work, but still have to use a mac at work-work. either one works, but for certain things i'll only do one or the other.
flash dev work = pc
email = maci'd say both if you can.. i have a mac laptop for freelance stuff too just for convenience, but mostly it's because no art director at any agency seems to take you seriously when you walk in with anything other than a mac laptop.. it's weird, but hey, it pays for itself that way

I am gonna have to disagree on the networking point made, I find Macs much easier to set up for all that. Plus they make it extremely easy to activate/deactive the firewall for multiple programs, I still cant figure that out quite right in XP. I also find that my 1ghz iMac with 1gb of Ram is much peppier than my 2.8ghz Dell with 1.5gbs of ram, but thats probably because of all the Norton and other anti-virus software it has to have.
Other than that, pretty much the same when it all comes down to it.
