Meeklo, I think you've completely misunderstood me.
My problem, much like most people here, is UNREQUESTED alterations to browser settings. My TV analogy was meant to illustrate this, as if you're flipping through channels. Alternatively your food and movie theatre analogies both assume that the user has requested a specific food or immersive movie experience. When was the last time you ordered "pasta" or were surprised when the lights dimmed?
I hope this clears things up a bit, because frankly I think all these analogies are making this conversation much more confusing!
