Just use a proper vector app - Illustrator/Freehand - you'll find much more creative freedom = better final product

72dpi?? for web graphics and small details (not image enhance)? sorry, no- it's way better for pixel detail. the creative freedom its up to the designer, not the program. I alwys do my mock~ups/ site layouts with fireworks, to preview how a site will look in html.
people say it sucks because they never tried to take fireworks full freatures. way easier than photoshop to make squares. in fact, I spare a lot of wasted time trying to adjust layers and objects on photoshop.

Use what you wanht to use. I hate these phony debates - it's like Mac/PC debate - they're just tools really just get on with life and create what you wanna create and don't worry to much about these things.
Anyway the suns out so Im' going outside to read a book.
