i reckon you'd need an income of £18k as a student to live in london and enjoy it.

I went to Middlesex
the campuses are dotted around north london
The Art & Design Campus is Cat Hill which comes under Barnet. Nearest tube is Oakwood (or southgate) on the picadilly line.
There are affordable nice places to live around this area

Not likely though.
Travel is a killer, and will go up according to Ken. I pay £97pm on that alone. :(
I swear it cost £10 just to walk out the front door some days.

If you're thinking of heading over to London, you might want to check this out:
http://www.livinginlondon.net/
It will give you a description of each area + photos.
Like the others have said, it's very expensive but you'll love it. The culture there is amazing.
The weather, however, is another story entirely... ;-)

English women are the most underestimated in the world! i like them talking 'stiff upper lip' and stuff. but the swampdonkeyy from northern ireland i met once was way too much ( http://images.google.com/imgres?… ) not her but very similar. i am glad OnD saved my life there! i shiver every night when i think of her moaning....

Ha! I'm English and I have never dated an English girl in my 26 years.

Pascii:
Stoke Newington might be a nice fit for you. It's up North but with a pretty decent high street, nice cafe's, good restaurants, a few good pubs, good amenities, nice parks and rough enough towards the Stamford Hill side (where I live) to be fairly reasonable in regards to rent. Also the rail station takes you further up north towards your various Middlesex Campuses. So transport shouldn't be a problem.

tnx normal! i am really happy 'bout all that tipps!

Oh yeah. Forgot to mention considering that I'm a transplant as well, I've been through all of this stuff. You might find the information here about British visas and permits useful in helping you decide what you need to do as well.

No work permit required for Swiss!!!
*ever get the feeling you are talking to yourself through a granite wall?

Doi!
Figured that after I posted. Nevermind me, nothing to see here.
Also...
http://www.moveflat.co.uk/
http://www.chillitree.co.uk/Are both good for finding flatshares.
I have fundamental design issues with Loot. They are the biggest classified ads company in England yet their website is absolute shit in regards to searching for a flat. They don't have proper listings it's done as a contextual search so you can search several different ways using post codes, place names, and city names to find flats in the same area. Therefore missing out on something good if you don't search in the "right" way.
