anyone else notice it being a total jackoff "i-dont-wanna-do-what-you-tell-m... today?

p2p is your answer, save a buck or two
- ewo0
...at the expense of the artists i respect, and the quality of my listening experience
- JazX0
surely, they make enough IMO
- brandelec0
fuck the artists' profit, when i see em driving a toyota echo, that's when i'll buy their music
;)
- ewo0
most do. but i make it a point to contribute to the questionable ones.
- ewo0
check the lastest entry to FMT thread. surely, he needs your pennies.
- Meeklo0
why would anyone buy from the itunes store?
you are clearly not supporting the artist using it, you are supporting apple, the artist gets less than a cent from every song.. if you want to suport the artist, download the song from p2p and send him a buck to his home address..
:)

if they are putting their songs there, then i'm taking that as saying "hey, here's a way to get our songs that we're alright with." now of course some labels are making the choice for their clients, which is lame. but it's still a lesser evil.
i don't think p2p is horrible, but I am sick of lossy quality from mp3s. i'll do it if it's a song i don't want to keep, or to check on the quality of an album, but not to build my music collection around.
- Meeklo0
of course not, it does sound horrible, for that my friend, cd..
- ewo0
ah yes, cd.
the format that forces me to pay big $ for 2 songs i want and 14 that i don't
- ewo0
i pretty much only buy cds of the following:
- sonically innovative stuff (beck, bjork, radiohead)
- concept / flow albums (quadrophenia, the wall, etc)
- masterpieces /everysongfuckingrocks (paul simon, jackson browne, etc)

Yes, i havent been able to purchase anthing from ITMS all day. Thats good though; I waste a lot of my paychecks in that damn store. I really wanted to buy Jon Stewarts new Audiobook though.
- ewo0
that thing is priceless!

I have bought nothing BUT Itunes music for the last 6 months.
Haven't bought a CD in AT LEAST a year, Maybe 2, and for that very reason I feel the need to "give back" somehow.
- ewo0
go to concerts. that's how they survive.
- JazX0
they make plenty just from releasing an album if there even remotely popular and residuals from each time their song is played or used. It's called licensing.
p2p: I share with you; you share with me.

According to downhillbattle.org (which is anti-itunes) the artists get 8-14 cents per song.
- JazX0
well there you have it, thanks for the clarification
- ewo0
which, if i'm not mistaken, isn't drastically different than the proceeds of CDs

i buy music wherever i can find it, and i find most for 9.99 on itunes, which is great cuz Tampa has no good record exchange places. (If anyone knows of one please inform me)
