AFL...? whats the big attraction. seems like a school yard romp to me, like an amature game of soccer.

I like AFL in the same way i like soccer - fast, athletic, lean. Lots of jumping and hijinx. and it sure beats american football!!

Much more skill and tactics involved in Aussie Rules. How hard can it be to control a round ball in Soccer? Compare that with the oval football in Aussie Rules - the irregular bounce, tackling, kicking, marking etc etc
Best game in the world - hands down.

Its athletic alright, but it seems that the pitch is always packed with players and every crowds the ball.
I think they should get rid of the mark, wow, you cought the ball, so what, do something with it. I think it would speed up the game an awful lot

If a round ball is so easy to control, how is it that using a round ball is australias major complaint when playing ireland in the international rules. Plus, looking at all the fumbling that goes in in AFL it proves that an oval ball is impossible to judge.
also with a normal ball you can curl it beutifully with pinpoint passes

bunch of overgrown genetic malfuntions hoofing a ball around.
I can't stop watching it. Still I dont get it at all though

whats with the guys in the day glow jackets?
I went to a sydney swans game and didnt have a clue what was going on, the game stopping for 10 mins just cause someone caught a ball, all these old men running on with ravers jackets shouting at the players, men in white coats having a double jointed fits.
I dont think anyone in the crowd knew what was going on either

Dont get me wrong, its entertaining, but does anyone know the rules.
Its a bit like gealic football the only difference is that gealic is better.
I think the Stein's are a bit old. theres a few irish lads on the swans team tho

"Irish players in the AFL
Several young footballers have been brought over from Ireland to try out for Australian Football and this has been dubbed "The Irish Experiment." Of the group, Jim Stynes,.............Brian Stynes played senior games for Melbourne. "

Eight players on the field; 20-man active roster; four-man inactive roster.
Im confused already, theres no way theres only 16 players at a time on the pitch, more like 50
- lowimpakt0
if there's 50 on the pitch who's getting the beers in??????
