Yeah... I hope you're going with some experienced peeps. Even climbing in this country to say, over 3000ft, requires more than common sense. Mountains are dangerous.
I would guess you'll have set camps on-route, but I would make sure YOU know where you're going and not just leave it to some foreign guide with no English...
As others have said, altitude sickness is indiscriminate. Don't feel bad if you get left behind - that shit can kill...
I want to see photos!

well we got back safe and sound although there were a few near misses. i can't really describe how it was in words without sounding clichéd so thought i'd leave it till the photos were up.
without wanting to sound too dramatic we really did get a little too close to landslides for my liking. When we arrived at Joshimath 2 roadworkers had been killed the day before trying to clear one when it fell again, and as we were leaving that village in torrential rain it was only due to our amazing driver's calm demeanor and 26 trips' experience that we got out - the traffic was at a standstill in the rain and mud because the coach driver opposite us was panicking and refusing to move because he could see rocks starting to fall (right above us) and our driver managed to coax him into moving, thank god, cos there was a landslide soon after. the next day on the same stretch a coach and truck collided and the coach went off the edge with 4 people being killed. It's weird in India, you feel closer to both life and death all the time.
At the end of the the trip my eyes were aching from trying to burn every image into my brain.
Hope you enjoy: http://homepage.mac.com/kinquila…

yea altitude sickness - towards the top i could only take 10 steps before i had to stop, got a bit delirious which was nice but don't know if that was just cos i was so unfit! but every time i felt sorry for myself one of those guys who carry people up on their backs in a basket would pass me... now that's a hard job!

In New Delhi in the Nizamuddin area there is a restaurant called Karim's. ITs a family of cooks dating back to the kitchens of Akbar, during the Mughal Period.
The food there is to die for.

aargl stopit zedvox you're making me miss the food. wish i'd asked you about that before i went... we went to this awesome restaurant in new delhi, amar colony - "gun-gun's", i never realised vegetarian food could be so varied and lush!
and yea you prolly are the only one who can read the signs - i loved them so much because they were pure graphics for me... but what is the graffiti in this shot, is it something really mundane like "no fly posting" or "cheap underwear sold here"?
