The red wouldn't look so bad if the blue wasn't in such high contrast... try a background that fits in with the other colors more. Also it's 80's so you can be tacky and cheezy... make the background pattern less subtle.
As far as the message goes... I think it needs a punchline. ie. Just some more text that really drives the message (even if it's a small quote or something). eg. "Each Saturday night come share the ultimate 80s experience at the blah blah"

As for the flyer, it bland. The 80 was all about cheeziness, neon and big hair.. play with that.

ok so 80's graphics with PLUR rave styling and copy? keep messin with it man, you'll get there. it will feel right to you when its done.

i think the flyer looks good - it's important to keep in mind what it's purpose is and who the market demographic is.
if the flyers serves to get their (the audience's) attention and encourage them to attend, it's done it's job.

because it is 'just a flyer' shouldn't give you reason not to try and perfect it. Anything can be improved, keep playing with it, you will be happier that you did when you hold it in your hot little hands fresh from the presses. print it out now at home and see if it makes you happy, if you feel that it is right, things look a whole lot different when they are printed then on screen. good luck and have fun! mediocrity is missed opportunity.
